Jan. 27th, 2005 11:26 pmThis is just a quick update about my trip to Sweden. Photos will come tomorrow, I think.
We left our house at about 8.15 am and was in lund at 9:30. I went with my dad and said hello to the other geophysicists at Sweden's Geological Study (SGU), where he had to collect some sandstones, and then left them to walk about in the city. I visited the old church (made from sandstone, my dad later informed me) and went to aaaall the bookstores I could find, because Swedish book are really cheap (I wished I'd bough "Populärmusik från Vittula". Damn...). After walking around in the snow (snow!!) I decided to get some food in a café. After eating my sandwish I went back to my dad and we went to University of Lund to meet some other people, including a really nice woman of about 30, who my dad had a really interesting chat with, if I understood it right (they kept using words like "neogene uplift" and other totally not-understandable words). At about 1:30 pm we left, because my dad was missing one type of sandstone from the collection he got. So we went to Sjöbo, or Dalby or whatever it was the city was called, because there was some form of hole where we could get it (pictures tomorrow). It was a really nice place with cats and rabbits and a frozen lake and a lot of snow. It was just so peaceful and lovely. My dad walked around with a little shovel and some bags and got the samples and I just walked around in the snow, taking pictures. I also found a really big puddle of frozen water, where I re-enacted the fight from "King Arthur". The cracking of the ice was really amazing, if I say so myself o.O
Anyway, the trip was very nice and I really enjoyed doing this with my dad. I got to see a side of him I really don't get to see that often; the kinda famous geophysicist-side. Seriously, these people loved having him there and they all wanted to do projects with him in the future (he has waaay too many prjects right now, so, no thank you!). All in all, a really nice and quiet trip.
