I've been wondering. In Harry/Draco-slash and they're sitting and eating (breakfast, lunch, dinner). If they're supposed to get eye contact while sitting there, they have to look across three whole tables with kids (Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, and half a Slytherin and Gryffindor table), asuming thay they both sit facing each other, because otherwise it would be even more difficoult.

There are some things that just don't add up...!

That's what makes it so plausible. They look at each other in the Great Hall all the time in canon, despite the obstacles you mentioned!
